Radon is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas that is radioactive, produced by underground by naturally occurring uranium deposits. Radon has been shown through research and testing to be of potential concern in every state. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in the United States for non-smokers. The US EPA estimates that there are over 6000 deaths every year from radon related lung cancer. The US EPA suggests that all structures, especially homes, be tested for radon. For structures where radon levels are above 4 PicoCuries per Liter (pCi/L), it is recommended that some form of mitigation be undertaken, often times in the form of a fan with a separate vent line. Kinightic Corporation is licensed to perform radon measurement in the state of IL. Whether or not you choose to use our service, you should verify that the organization and individuals conducting your measurement are licensed.
